Professional Bio

Chris Fransway is the Assistant Deputy Comptroller for Bank Supervision and
Examination in the West Region of the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC).
Mr. Fransway manages supervisory activities associated with a portfolio of banks and
federal savings associations. Specifically, he plans, organizes, implements, and directs
bank supervision activities; supervises assigned staff; and directs the resources
necessary to accomplish the OCC's mission.
Mr. Fransway joined the OCC’s San Diego Office in 2006. He developed a broad range of
bank supervision experience as a National Bank Examiner, including serving as examinerin-
charge for several troubled and large national community banks and federal savings
associations. Mr. Fransway also has extensive midsize and large bank supervision
experience that includes complex commercial credit, capital markets, Enterprise
Resource Management (ERM), and corporate governance. Since 2017, he has served as
an instructor for the OCC’s concentration of credit course and more recently as an
instructor for the OCC’s Credit Risk Workshop for community bank directors and senior
management.
Mr. Fransway has a bachelor of science in finance from San Diego State University.
