This is an introductory course designed to address the needs of beginning credit analysts and reinforce the credit skills of current credit analysts in all aspects of credit analysis. It begins with understanding your role as a credit analyst within the evolving financial institution industry and proceeds into answering the question, “How financially healthy are our borrowers and can they withstand pending financial challenges?”

The course will build upon your core understanding of financial accounting and the fundamentals of credit analysis to take you to the next level of performing a deeper analysis.

Participants will:

  • Understand the Role of Commercial Banks and the Duties and Responsibilities of the Credit Analyst
  • Identify Industry, Business and Management Risks and the Various Business Economic Cycles and How They Affect Industries and Businesses
  • Detailed Review of the Major Accounts on Financial Statements for:
    • Commercial and Industrial Relationships
    • Commercial Real Estate Relationships
  • Best Practices to Spread Financial Statements
  • Know How to Review and Analyze Corporate Tax Returns
  • Calculate credit related ratios to determine:
    • Liquidity
    • Leverage
    • Asset management capabilities
    • Operating performance
  • Complete a Cash Flow Analysis Utilizing the Uniform Cash Analysis (UCA) method and
  • Compare Results with the Traditional, EBITDA Methodologies Commonly Used be Banks
  • Convert Management’s Future Assumptions into A Projected Income Statement, Balance Sheet And Cash Flow Analysis Statement
  • Sensitize Management’s Assumptions to Create A More Conservative Financial Forecast
  • Determine A Sustainable Sales Growth Level for The Client

PRESENTER

Jeffery W. Johnson, Principle, Bankers Insight Group is a banking training professional who leads seminars on key industry issues across the U.S. He actively teaches for over 20 state and community banking associations, the Risk Management Association (RMA), and banks nationwide. Co-author of the RMA course “Lending to Service and Other Professional Organizations” (2001), he began his career at SunTrust Bank, advancing to senior roles at SouthTrust Bank and Citizens Trust Bank in Atlanta. His expertise spans Credit Administration, Lending, Business Development, Loan Review, and Training, with experience managing diverse loan portfolios and teams.
