This webinar will explain the fundamentals of digital tokens, blockchain, smart contracts, and stablecoins, including their scale ($38T in annual stablecoin transaction volume), regulatory frameworks (the GENIUS Act), and real-world adoption by major players like Visa, Mastercard, PayPal, and JPMorgan.

The presentation will highlight the differences between stablecoins and tokenized deposits, their use cases, implications for banks, merchants, and consumers, and both the opportunities (new payment rails, lower costs, programmable money) and risks (regulation, infrastructure, disintermediation) they bring. It concludes that banking is rapidly moving toward unified ledgers and clearinghouses and stresses the need for financial institutions to develop a stablecoin/tokenized deposit strategy to remain competitive in payments.
